🎓 Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for the Optometrist post must possess the prescribed educational and technical qualification.
- B.Sc. in Optometry
- OR Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician of the prescribed 3–4 year duration.
- Registration with the concerned Council/Licensing body as prescribed in the notification.
🎂 Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 01 January 2027 .
Applicable age relaxation for eligible categories will be according to Railway rules and the conditions specified in the notification.
💰 Salary / Pay Scale

👓 B-1 Medical Standard
The Optometrist post is associated with the B-1 medical standard.
- Distance vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses.
- Lens power should not exceed 4D as prescribed.
- Near vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses.
- Candidates must satisfy the prescribed colour vision requirements.
- Binocular vision requirements apply.
- Night vision requirements apply.
- Mesopic vision requirements apply.
LASIK Candidates
Candidates who have undergone LASIK may be considered subject to the conditions and medical requirements specified in the official notification.
